ENV RESPONDS TO SSO IN TOWN
(Thur., Feb. 7, 2013) – The City Department of Environmental Services responded tonight to a sanitary sewer overflow at The trouble call came in at 8:25 p.m. ENV crews arrived at 8:50 p.m. and secured the site at 9:20 p.m. Grease and rags clogged an 8-inch pipe discharging an estimated 4,350 gallons of raw wastewater from a manhole entering a storm drain leading to Nuuanu Stream and eventually ENV notified the state Department of Health. ENV cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the area. Warning signs and water sampling will begin at first light. The public is advised to stay out of the affected waterways until warning signs have been taken down. -30-
