ENV RESPONDS TO SSO IN WAIPAHU
(Mon., Jan. 7, 2013) – The City’s Department of Environmental Services responded this morning to a sanitary sewer overflow in Waipahu.
The call came in at 8:41 a.m. An ENV crew arrived at 8:59 a.m. and secured the site at 9:06 a.m.
Grease clogged a 10-inch pipe at 94-590 Awamoi Street discharging an estimated 3,500 gallons of untreated wastewater from a manhole into Waikele Stream, which leads to Pearl Harbor West Loch.
ENV notified the state Department of Health. ENV cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the affected area near the overflow. Warning signs are being posted and water sampling is underway. The public is advised to stay out of the affected waterways until warning signs have been taken down.
