CONTRACTOR DAMAGES LUALUALEI PUMP STATION BYPASS LINE

(Wed., Feb. 13, 2013) – The City’s Department of Environmental Services responded this afternoon to Lualualei Wastewater Pump Station in Maile after a contractor damaged a bypass line.

         The call came in at 2:19 p.m.  An ENV crew arrived at 3:30 p.m.  The pipe, located at 87-1581 Farrington Highway, has been secured.

         An estimated 3,500 gallons of untreated wastewater was contained in a 30-foot trench as a Vactor truck recovered the entire spill and redistributed it downstream into the collection system.  The spill did not reach receiving waters.

         ENV notified the state Department of Health.
