RENOVATIONS AT WAIMANALO BAY BEACH PARK TEMPORARILY

SUSPEND CAMPING BEGINNING MARCH 1

(Thurs., Jan. 31, 2013) — Camping at Windward Oahu’s Waimanalo Bay Beach Park will be suspended temporarily beginning March 1, 2013, to renovate the comfort station and camping grounds. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) officials expect renovations to the parking and campground areas to take several months.

            The project includes overhauling the roof and supporting structures, fixtures, and sewage system. Bathroom and shower facililties will be unavailable during this time, and the area will be unsafe for public recreation. Camp and park users are asked to avoid the campground area to accommodate the storage of construction equipment and material, movement of the heavy equipment, and excavation of the grounds to access and renovate the sewage system. 

            DPR officials appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while much needed improvements are completed to this popular recreation site.
