The citizens and visitors of the City and County of Honolulu benefit from the operation and maintenance of the Blaisdell Center and the Waikiki Shell under the direction of the Department of Enterprise Services. The Blaisdell Center which includes the recently renovated and expanded Exhibition Hall, the multi-purpose Arena and the Concert Hall is situated in the heart of Honolulu, in a peaceful setting of park-like grounds surrounded by ponds filled with tropical fish. Centrally located, the Blaisdell Center offers ample parking to patrons and tenants. The Waikiki Shell, a dramatic open-air facility, is located in Kapiolani Park at the foot of the world-famous Diamond Head Crater.
While the rental of facilities and equipment and the fine concession services generates revenue for the City and County of Honolulu, the Department of Enterprise Services is committed to providing diverse and quality entertainment to the entire community. Excellence in service and facilities is the goal. With the addition of the Honolulu Zoo and the municipal Golf Courses in June of 1997, the Department is extending its reach and vision farther into the community. Improvements that benefit the public and the tenants have been a key issue in the development of these facilities since their opening in 1964. The Concert Hall has received substantial upgrades with a new sound shell and state-of-the-art lighting system. To improve customer service, the new Box Office facility was completed in 1994 and computerized ticket services were added. The newly renovated and refurbished Exhibition Hall, with the breath-taking, glass enclosed Galleria, was dedicated in 1995 increasing the exhibit space and adding 15 meeting rooms.
The Department of Enterprise Services is proud to serve the citizens and visitors of Hawaii with outstanding venues for all types of leisure and business activities.
