Advisory Opinion No. 147

The question is whether the outside activity as a part-time employee of a life insurance and investment company conflicts with the duties of a person hired on a short-term contract basis to assist the City Council in its review and adoption of development plans. The contract employee informed the Ethics Commission [Commission] that he is involved in life insurance sales only and is not involved in investment sales.

The Commission sees no incompatibility between the outside activity of the contract employee and his City employment.
