Advisory Opinion No. 16
This is in reference to the conflict of interest disclosure submitted by Employee X, an employee of the City Building Department as a Plumbing Inspector, with reference to his private employment as Sales Clerk in the Plumbing Department of a major department store, which was referred to this Commission for review. After reviewing the facts relative to Employee X's case, we are of the opinion that there is no conflict of interest between the duties and responsibilities of Employee X as a Plumbing Inspector and as a salesman of plumbing accessories, so long as he restricts his activity to the items mentioned to this Commission at a meeting held on April 14, 1971. The plumbing items handled or sold by Employee X dealt primarily with plumbing accessories and not plumbing fixtures, which fall within his jurisdiction as a Plumbing Inspector.
