ADVISORY OPINION NO. 25
This is in reference to code of ethics disclosure submitted by Employee X, Housing-Zoning Code Inspector.
The disclosure reveals that Employee X is i3rnployed by the City and County of Honolulu as a code enforcement official. It further discloses that he owns rental units.
The Ethics Commission concurs with the department head's finding that there is no conflict of interest in the instant case. As a caveat, however, we request that you inform the department head to advise Employee X that Employee X shall at no time inspect any of his own rental units. Any inspection by Employee X of said rental units will be deemed to be a conflict of interest.
