The Honolulu Fire Department's (HFD) Rescue Squads provide specialized equipment, knowledge, skills, and abilities to support Fire Operations in these types of missions:

·         Land and sea search and rescues

·         High-angle rescues

·         Confined space rescues

·         Motor vehicle accident extrications

·         Second alarm response to building fires

·         Marine vessel fires and rescues

 

In 2004, the HFD received funding from the Office of Domestic Preparedness to purchase two new vehicles for the Rescue Squads.  The new HFD Rescue apparatuses are stationed at the Pawaa and Kalihi Kai fire stations.

    • Brakes:  Pneumatic with Meritor Wabco 4 sensor antilock braking and air dryer system
    • Cab:  Aluminum tilt cab, long four door, 10 seats
