In March 2003, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) acquired a Mobile Command Center (MCC). The MCC can be deployed to emergency incidents that involve numerous HFD apparatuses and personnel. Such incidents may also require collaboration and careful planning between the HFD and other City, state, or federal agencies. The MCC provides officials from these agencies a meeting area to plan strategies and coordinate resources that is sheltered from the elements, media, bystanders, and other distractions. Once they enter the MCC, the Incident Command staff may conduct Command and Control functions that are critical to safe and efficient incident mitigation.
