I serve on neighborhood board#2 and also on the WIRCA board. Marine biologist(UH'82) and Economist(USF'85), I am now a property investor. Single mom of 3 -Kai (19,UCBerkeley) Kela(12,Niu Valley),Kiana(9,Kahala). Passionate about conservation, Hawaiian, women's and animal rights issues. Love hula (chant and kahiko), believe in buying local and taking Hawaiian vacations to boost our local economy.

I am a retired Coast Guard officer, my last assignment being Honolulu. I have always been interested in what goes on in my neighborhood and being a Neighborhood Board member allows me to be hands-on in the process.  It is important that our citizens' voices be heard, and to support my neighbors, my position on the board makes me a conduit to City Hall.

My family has lived in Aina Haina since 1959, and it's been 2.5 years since I came home to help care for my dad.  I served in 2012 on the Board of the Aina Haina Community Association and am employed as a Senior Manager of Hawaiian Telcom.  I'm also active in the Hawaii Open Data movement for open and transparent government.

I hope to continue to represent with integrity the community's interests in protecting our environment and quality of life.

My husband Max and I lived in Aina Haina since 1985. I worked for the DOT for 8years, moved on to work at the Dept of Budget & Finance for 16years, and retired from the Dept of Accounting & General Services after 13years. I have served on this NB for more than 26years as the Chairman of its Transportation Committee. I want Aina Haina to stay residential, beautifully landscaped & tranquil.

LAJALA, Kurt

I am a lifetime resident of Niu Valley where my wife, Celeste, our three children and I currently make our home.  I am a graduate of Kalani High School and the University of Hawaii, a retired U.S.A.F., Hawaii ANG and United Air Lines pilot.  I am currently a DoD Instructor Pilot, volunteer coach with the Kalanianaole Athletic Club and an active member of the Niu Valley Playground Association.

 

SHARP, Philip E. Sr.

I am serving my 2nd term. I'm against new housing in the valleys, Kal Hwy and all ridges, the proposed rail from Hawaii Kai the proliferation of B & B's. I'm for reasonable development of assisted living/care home facilities; support the playground at Niu Valley Park. I'm open to new ideas yet hold on to and protect the uniqueness of our valley lifestyles.

LUKENS, Ashley

Ashley Lukens attended Vassar College, graduating with a BA in Women Studies and Economics. She will complete her PhD in political Science at UH Manoa in May 2013, where her research focuses on Policy and alternative food systems. Ashley recently sold her share of Baby Awearness, a small eco-friendly retail store in Manoa, and currently serves as the VP of the Hawaii Food Policy Council.

 

MULKERN, Kevin J.

I am a current Neighborhood Board Member seeking re-election. I am a self-employed landscape contractor and nurseryman. One of my goals is acknowledging the contributions homeowners, such as those on Paiko Drive, have made to our community by caring for city easements and calling attention to government waste, such as that of the Aina Haina Monument.

 

SCHELL, J Edward

I have served our Neighborhood board as a member, Treasurer, and for the last six years as the Vice-chair.  I would be honored to continue to serve, and ask for your vote so that I can do so.
