FOSTER BOTANICAL GARDEN
Ferns to Flowers Tour
This tour will focus on tropical plants through the ages...the evolution of plants.
When: Sundays, June 16, July 21, Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Medicinal Plants Tour
Learn about the plants and trees that were utilized as natural remedies before modern medicine.
When: Saturdays, June 22, Time: 1:00 p.m.

Story time in the Garden
Activites will include reading stories, a nature craft, signing and visiting a tree. Ages 3 to 5.

HO`OMALUHIA BOTANICAL GARDEN
Family Fishing at Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden
Come with your family to fish and enjoy the outdoors at Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden. This catch and release program
is fun for everyone. Recommended: walking shoes, insect repellent, rain gear, fishing bait (fresh white bread) and
barb-less hooks. There is a twenty (20) minute hike to the fishing area.
When: Saturdays and Sundays Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Botanical Drawing and Painting Sessions - Self Directed
Actual renderings of plants, flowers, seeds and pods from the garden. Bring supplies: #4 round brush, Bristol paper
and quality watercolor set, or watercolor pencils. Some experience in watercolor & drawing helpful.
When: Wednesdays Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Preschool Nature Hour
Activites include reading stories, crafts and a nature walk. Bring a lunch and stay for a picnic. Walking
shoes, insect repellent and rain gear advised. Ages 3 to 5.

Keiki Fishing Derby
Celebrate National Fishing Week on Saturday, June 1, 2013 with a Keiki Fishing Derby for ages 4 to 17.
Prizes will be awarded in three age categories: youth 4 to 7, youth 8 to 12 and teens 13 to 17.
The event categories are: 1) Longest Fish over 7" 2) Most Midas Cichlids and 3) Most unusual catch.
Fishing is on a catch and release basis, line in the water, no casting.

A Family Night

Foster Botanical Garden will be turned into a magical wonderland with luminaries sparkling along the pathways weaving through the garden.
Watch the high spirited lion dance,
enjoy the music of the bagpiper as the Scottish dancers do their jig and unwind with the relaxing sounds of the Air Force Jazz Band.
See the Mongolian Tribesmen & their belly dancers.
