Senior Citizen Section
The Senior Citizens Program strive to improve the quality of life of senior citizens in the community, 55 years and older, by providing a wide range of leisure time activities to meet some of the recreational needs of the senior population.
Special Events:
Senior Club program: Over 35 senior clubs island wide, representing about 3,500 senior citizens participate in weekly activities that include: business meetings, speakers, community service, excursions, luncheons, etc. They elect their own officers and organize all of their planned activities. Weekly meeting attendances vary upon the size of the club (membership ranges from 10 to 250). The section also coordinates large island wide activities serving all club members and other senior citizens in the City and County of Honolulu.

GoodLife Expo (September): Annual 3 day event held at the NBC exhibition hall, vendors and businesses selling senior services and products and informational booths, entertainment and senior club sales.
Mayor's Craft and Country Fair: (November): Annual event held at the NBC exhibition hall, club sales-plants-handcrafted items, food, jam, jellies and "hardly" used items. Senior information and a variety entertainment is provided, a canned goods donation is appreciated. First Hawaiian Bank is sponsor.
Seniors Valentine Dance (February): At this annual event, Department of Parks and Recreation senior clubs and senior organizations select "sweethearts" to represent their clubs and organizations during the opening ceremony. The Mayor and celebrities participate in folk and line dancing to fill up the morning program. Bank of Hawaii is sponsor.
Oahu Primetime Wellness Fair (March): Over one hundred health related businesses and organizations provide information of their products and services, seminars and presentations on health issues are available at the NBC exhibition hall. First Hawaiian Bank is sponsor.
