|The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney not only fights crime in the courtroom, but also in the community through the Community Prosecution Program.
Our mission is to reduce crime and fear. In partnership with the community, other law enforcement, governmental and non-governmental agencies, we can solve problems that affect the quality of life in the community. Our program combines the strengths of community policing with the skills and legal expertise of the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
Community-Oriented: Our goal is to improve the quality of life in the community by reducing crime and the fear of crime. Projects are community-driven and community-oriented.
Collaboration: Collaboration is the cornerstone of community prosecution.
Innovation: Community prosecution is an exciting vehicle for exploring and testing novel law enforcement tactics, whether in the courtroom or on the street.
Assessment: Projects are periodically evaluated. New techniques that prove effective serve as prototypes for mass replication.
Integration of Community Prosecution Principles: Broad-based community prosecution strategies depend upon department-wide support. Our program has expanded by merging community prosecution principles with traditional prosecution methodology.
