Motorists are advised that parts of Ala Moana Beach Park will be closed beginning this weekend until May 13. The exact date and time of the closure will be announced later by the Honolulu Police Department. Ala Moana Beach Road will be closed to traffic from the ewa entrance to the “highrise” picnic area number 28 (near the softball field). McCoy Pavilion, the tennis courts, and the lawn bowling areas will be closed to the public. However, the public will be allowed access to the beach, bathrooms and concessions.

Park goers are advised that the Ala Wai Community Park, including the Ala Wai Clubhouse and the baseball field, will be closed to the public beginning this weekend through May 13. Again, the exact date and time will be announced later by the Honolulu Police Department. No public parking will be allowed. The Ala Wai Canal will be accessible by foot.

Park goers are also advised that participants in the ADBWatch March have been given a permit for their pre-march staging activities in picnic areas 38, 39 and 40 (the central area) of Magic Island from 8 a.m. to noon, May 9, 2001. March organizers have also obtained a permit to gather from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Queen Kapiolani Park, picnic area number 2 (near the Kapiolani Bandstand), where they will hold a “Global Justice Rally.”
