Mayor Jeremy Harris issued the following statement after the ADBWatch Protest March: Honolulu sent a message to the world today that it can be a great site for an international conference and that it can handle protests with aloha and good planning. Members of the Honolulu Police Department are to be commended for doing an excellent job overseeing the march. You could see by their performance why they are called Honolulu's finest. Mayor Harris also applauded the city crews from many departments who assisted with a variety of duties associated with the event. He pointed out that within five minutes of the march leaving Ala Moana Beach Park, city employees had the area cleaned and reopened to the public. The city will request a reimbursement from the federal government to cover the costs of the enhanced security, since the Asia Development Bank conference is being hosted by the United States government, which is a major share holder in the bank.
