Mayor Jeremy Harris announced today that effective immediately, the public will be able to purchase commemorative patriotic license plates to honor the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks and to show support for our country.
“These commemorative plates have an attractive design that declares our solidarity as Americans,” the Mayor said. “They serve to remind us never to forget the events of September 11.”
The special plates, designed by artist Daryl Soon, are composed of two letters and three numerals printed on the right side, with a 3-inch square red-white-and-blue decal on the left that reads “America United.” The plates will cost $5.50 when purchased during the regular license renewal process. Purchasers will receive two plates, two “America United” decals, an expiration emblem (for the rear plate) and a new certificate of registration indicating assignment of the new license plates.
The commemorative plates may be obtained at any Satellite City Hall, or by obtaining an application form from the Motor Vehicle Branch, P.O. Box 30330, Honolulu, HI 96820-0300. The applicant must indicate on the form “America United” organizational license plate, submit the last issued certificate of registration and pay the appropriate fee.
The commemorative licenses are part of a statewide program and are available in all counties at different prices.
