The Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor the Mayor’s 27th Annual Cultural Festival & Craft Fair at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall on Saturday, November 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event features the sale of handcrafted holiday gift items, scrumptuous homemade foods, as well as homegrown plants, cut flowers, whole fruits and vegetables.
There will be a contest and display of Christmas wreaths and stockings created by Oahu’s senior citizens. Individuals ages 55 and older who are interested in entering a wreath or stocking in this competition should call Michael Aoki of the Department of Parks and Recreation at 973-7258 to obtain more information. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners in both the wreath and stocking divisions.
“Memories of Christmas Past” will be the theme for the display of Christmas trees on exhibit. Ornaments adorning the trees were handcrafted by members of the Department of Parks and Recreation’s senior citizens clubs. In addition, the Cultural Festival and Craft Fair will offer interactive make-and-take activities, along with lots of door prizes and entertainment.
Admission is free, but the public is asked to bring a canned good or non-perishable food item for donation to less fortunate families in our community.
