WHAT: BROWN BAG DAYS - Brown bag your medications in original containers and paramedics will check for expiration date, sort, prioritize and prepare a medical information chart to carry or post at home. WHY: Medical information is vital to paramedics who respond to emergency calls. Oftentimes the sick or injured are not able to respond to questions. Frequently people place their medications in unmarked pill containers which do not identify the medication or dosage. Paramedics may also be able to advise if you are inappropriately mixing medications. WHERE: Monday, May 21, Kahala Mall, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. OTHER: In celebration of Emergency Medical Services Week, May 20-26, paramedics from the Honolulu Emergency Services Department will meet the public and provide handouts, cholesterol and glucose screening, blood pressure reading, keiki (children) identification cards, and other helpful information. Emergency vehicles also available for keiki viewing and interactive display, and the entire family has a chance to spin the wheel, win prizes and learn to do the CPR Hula (Ala Moana and Honolulu Hale only.) For more information, contact the EMS Department, 831-4383.
