News Releases

The departments of Facility Maintenance (^FM) and Design & Construction (^DC), and the Board of Water Supply (^WS) have scheduled the following roadwork for the week of April 22, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Estimated completion date is in parentheses.

Continuing Projects:

Haleiwa: Install water lines and equipment along Haleiwa Road, Kaika Place, Nalimu Road, Naoiwi Lane, Niuula Road and Walikanahele Road. (Completion by 6/02) ^WS

Honolulu: Punchbowl Street Improvements, Phase I: Reconstruct traffic island and relocate traffic signal light poles at Punchbowl Street and Beretania Street intersection. Reconstruct gutter area and resurface and stripe Punchbowl Street between King and Beretania streets. (Estimated completion is April 31, 2001) ^DC

    Punchbowl Street Improvements Phase II involves widening the east side of the street between Vineyard Boulevard and Lusitania Street. (Completion by 6/7/01) ^DC

Phase 4: Widen both sides of Punchbowl Street between Vineyard Boulevard and Beretania Street. Improvements include reconstructing rock wall, sidewalks, curbs, driveways and curb ramps; install new drainage and water facilities, grass, trees, irrigation system, planters on median strip, and street light system. Provide pavement striping, markings, and markers. Some of the work is being done at night. (Estimated completion is June 2, 2001) ^DC

Install wheelchair ramps at Halekauwila Street and Ward Avenue. (Completion by 4/23/01) ^DC

Kahaluu: Install water lines along Kamehameha Highway from Lihikai to Laenani drives and along the two drives. Install fire hydrants along Ahilama Road, Ahuimanu Road, Mapele Place and Road, and Pulama Road. (Completion by 7/01) ^WS

Kailua: Install water main along Kaha Street and Loop, Kaimake Loop and Kaipiha Street. (Completion by 9/01) ^WS
    Kainui Drive Trunk Sewer will be rehabilitated along Kainui Drive between Oneawa Street and Kalaheo Avenue. (Completion by 10/01) ^DC

Kaimuki: Construction of curb ramps, sidewalks and landscaping on Kokohead Avenue and 12^th Avenue. ^DC
    Reconstruction of Streets: Install 12” and 8” BWS water mains on Alencastre Street between St. Louis Drive and Felix Street. Reconstruct roadway pavement and base, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways. Adjust manhole frames and covers, street monument covers and utility boxes to finish grade. Install street striping and raise pavement markings. (Completion by 2/02) ^DC

Kaneohe: A 42-inch water main with fire hydrants is being placed along Kahekili Highway from Ahuimanu Road to Haiku Road and from Kulukeoe Street to Likelike Highway, Likelike Highway from Kahekili Highway to Kamehameha Highway. (Completion by 6/8/02) ^WS
    Install water mains along Yacht Club Street, Keoe Way and Place. (Completion by 8/01) ^WS
    Adjust utility manholes and striping on Ahuimanu Road. Reconstruct and resurface Mokulele Drive. Adjust utility manholes and reconstruct curbs on Kamehameha Highway from Likelike Highway to Kaneohe Stream Bridge. (Completion by 8/29/01) ^DC

Maili: Install water mains Mynah Street and Place, Monilial Place, Heleuma Street, Okokomo Street and Okohola Street. (Completion by 9/01) ^WS

Wahiawa: Moala Place drainage improvements to include adjusting pavement grade along California Avenue and into Moala Place. (Completion by 8/01) ^DC

Maunawili: Install a 16-inch water main and fire hydrants along Auloa Road from Castle Junction to near Lunaai Street. (Completion by 10/01) ^WS

Pearl City: Rehabilitation of Komo Mai Drive and restriping from Lanikeha Street to Apoepoe Street.
    Resurface streets from Hoolaulea Street to Kaahele Street.
    Adjust manholes on Kaohohi Street. (Completion by 9/01) ^DC

Waialua: Install water lines and related equipment along Aikaula, Haona, Kanalu, Kuoha, Naluahi and Nauahi streets and Goodale Avenue. (Start 7/01 and Completion by 6/02) ^WS
    Install eight and four-inch water mains with hydrants along Awaia, Awanei and Pupuole streets and Pupuole Place. (Completion by 5/01) ^WS

Wilhelmina Rise: Install water mains under Maunahilu Place, Paula Drive, Puumalu Place and Paula Place. (Completion by 9/01) ^WS

April 22: The 2001 Haleiwa Metric Century Bike Ride will be held between Haleiwa and Kaaawa starting at 7:30 a.m. The cyclists will go from KaiakaState Park to North Shore Market Place via Haleiwa Road, Paala Road, Kamehameha Highway, Joseph P. Leong Highway, Kamehameha, aroundWeed Circle and back on the highway to the finish.
