NEWS RELEASE Public Communications Division FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BOX JELLYFISH INFLUX
The Ocean Safety Division has is issuing a Box Jellyfish Warning for March 7, 8, 9, 2002. The areas commonly affected are the Ala Moana Beach Park swim channel and Waikiki Beach. Other areas that have been affected include Hanauma Bay, Pokai Bay and Makaha Surfing Beach. Lifeguards will assess the beaches for boxjellyfish during the alert period. If boxjellyfish are found in any beach area warning signs will be posted. Advisories will be posted as warranted. Lifeguard stations are supplied and equipped to treat this type of marine stings.
