NEWS RELEASE Public Communications Division Department of Customer Services City & County of Honolulu 523-4385 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 17, 2002 CORPORATION COUNSEL LAUDS JUDGE’S RULINGCorporation Counsel David Arakawa released the following statement about today’s ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Alan Kay, who granted five of seven motions filed by the City to dismiss claims or for summary judgment in Daly v. Harris, the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve entrance fee case: “The City remains committed to preserving the irreplaceable and fragile environment at Hanauma Bay, and today’s developments are a positive step towards achieving that goal. We feel that the Court made the correct decision. We will be consulting with our attorneys to determine how best to follow-up on the two motions that weren’t granted, and we’re hopeful those claims will eventually be dismissed as well.” -30- |
