FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 5, 2002 MAYOR “TOPS” CITY TREE, DEDICATES HPD EMERGENCYCOMMAND VEHICLE TOMORROW Mayor Jeremy Harris will announce the winners of the annual Honolulu City Lights Wreath Contest tomorrow morning (Friday, December 6) at 11 a.m. in the City Hall Courtyard. At 11:15 a.m., the mayor will present Certificates of Merit to two outstanding citizens, Dr. Joe Young of Friends of Chinatown, and Chris Nakashima-Heise, of the Downtown Business Improvement District. Both Dr. Young and Ms. Nakashima-Heise have been instrumental in expanding the participation of Honolulu City Lights to include Chinatown merchants and businesses. The award presentation will be followed by the topping of the 60-foot City Christmas tree by Mayor Jeremy Harris. After the tree topping, the Mayor will dedicate Honolulu Police Department’s new mobile Emergency Command Vehicle. The new state-of-the-art command vehicle will be used in the event of a terrorist attack or a major natural disaster. ### |
