FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mayor Harris Meets with Asian Development Bank President
on Honolulu’s Economic Development Initiatives
Mayor Jeremy Harris has been invited by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to speak at the ADB conference in Shanghai today. This morning he will be meeting with Asian Development Bank President Tadao Chino to discuss Honolulu’s Asia Pacific Urban Institute and the Mayors Asia Pacific Environmental Summit, both of which Mayor Harris created as part of his effort to diversify Hawaii’s economy into knowledge-based industries. ADB has been a partner with the City and County of Honolulu in these programs since 1999.
In addition to speaking at the conference about these Honolulu economic initiatives, Mayor Harris will be moderating a panel discussion with the Executive Director of the United Nations Environmental Program, the Vice Mayor of Shanghai and the Minister of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China.
