NEW YEARS HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
City government offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, for New Years Day, a federal holiday.
Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard and police services will be available.
The People’s Open Markets will not be held.
Recreation facilities, the botanical gardens and golf courses will be closed except the Ala Wai, Ewa Villages and Ted Makalena Golf courses will be open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. (18-hole reservations: 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. and nine-hole reservations: 11 a.m. -1 p.m.). Kahuku Golf Course will be open from 7 a.m to 4:30 p.m.
The Honolulu Zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
No refuse material collections will be made and the landfills and convenience centers will be open until the bins are full.
City buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. The Handi-Vans will be in service.
These traffic and parking regulations will be in effect:
On-street parking will be free, except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along
Parking will be permitted in towaway zones that allow it on holidays;
There will be no coning of commuter traffic lanes;
Traffic signals at Kalakaua Avenue and Kapiolani Boulevard will be three-phase to permit mauka-bound traffic to turn left onto Kapiolani Boulevard.
