PATRIOTIC LICENSE PLATES STILL ON SALE
Special patriotic license plates remain available for sale at Satellite City Halls throughout Oahu.
More than 4,000 of the special plates, featuring a red-white-and-blue decal, have been issued since Mayor Jeremy Harris unveiled them in October. The license plates were created in tribute to those who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
“That unforgettable date revitalized the spirit of patriotism throughout our nation and we want our citizens to continue to show their pride in America during this long struggle against terrorism,” said the Mayor.
The special license plates cost $5.00 when purchased during the regular 45-day license renewal period. This is in addition to the cost of the motor vehicle registration renewal. Purchasing the special plates before the normal renewal period will cost a plate replacement fee of $5.00, plus an emblem replacement fee of 50 cents.
Satellite City Halls are located at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, Fort Street Mall, Pearlridge Center, Kalihi-Kapalama City Square, Kapolei Hale, Windward Mall, Waianae Neighborhood Community Center, the Lee Town Center and in Wahiawa and Kailua.
The license plates are also available on the neighbor islands at county motor vehicle offices. Each county sets its own price for the plates.
