NEWS RELEASE
Public Information Division The public will have fairer access to camping at City parks, under a new rule that limits group campers to permits for only three adjacent sites. The new rule was put into effect on March 1, after persistent complaints that the same groups of people were monopolizing camping spaces in City parks. The problem is especially acute on long summer weekends, such as the Memorial Day weekend on May 27. Camping permits are available at no cost at satellite city halls and the parks permit office at the Honolulu Municipal Building. The permits can only be picked up by persons 18 years and older. Three adults must be in line to personally obtain the maximum three camping permits that are allowed for groups. -30- |
