FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 28, 2002 FROM CAROL COSTA, 527-6605 Honolulu Mayor Jeremy Harris issued the following statement after learning of the death of Congresswoman Patsy Mink: “Ramona and I join all the people of Hawaii in sending our condolences to John Mink on the passing of his wife and to the Mink family. “For nearly 50 years, Patsy has courageously raised her voice of compassion and justice in the United States Congress. Whether it has been equal rights for women or economic justice for the poor, or simply fair treatment for those who might not be represented in the halls of power, Patsy has been there. “There will never be another like her, and the people of Hawaii and the entire nation will long remember her service to those causes and issues which make this nation great.” |
