ROAD WORK, PARADES AND OTHER STREET ACTIVITIES

The departments of Facility Maintenance (FM) and Design & Construction (DC), and the Board of Water Supply (WS) have scheduled the following roadwork for the week of January 20 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Estimated completion date is in parentheses.

Continuing Projects:

Aiea: Curb ramps at Laumima Street (Completion by 5/02) DC

            Rehabilitation of Aiea Heights Road (Completion by 8/02) DC 

Haleiwa: Install water lines and equipment along Haleiwa Road, Kaika Place, Nalimu Road, Naoiwi Lane, Niuula Road and Walikanahele Road. (Completion by 6/02) WS 

Honolulu: Reconstruct King Street from Liliha Street to River Street and Bethel Street to South Street. The North King Street section includes the replacement of a 24-inch water main. (Completion by 7/02) DC

            Reconstruct Nuuanu Avenue, Judd Street, Booth Road and Nuuanu Pali Drive. (Completion by 6/02) DC

            Curb ramps at various locations downtown (Completion by 5/02). DC

                        Sewer line construction on Lusitania Street from Pauoa Road to Auwaiolimu Street [Start pending street usage permit] (Completion by 5/15/02) DC

            Reconstruct gutters, curbs and sidewalks on Kalanipuu Street and King Street between Alapai Street and University Avenue. (Completion by 2/02) DC 

Kahala: Renovation of Kealahou Street. (Completion by 8/02) DC 

Kaimuki: Install 12 and 8 BWS water mains on Alencastre Street between St. Louis Drive and Felix Street. Reconstruct roadway pavement and base, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways. (Completion by 2/02) DC

        Curb ramps and widened sidewalks along Waialae Avenue (Completion by 4/2/02) DC 

Kaneohe: A 42-inch water main with fire hydrants is being placed along Kahekili Highway from Ahuimanu Road to Haiku Road and from Kulukeoe Street to Likelike Highway, Likelike Highway from Kahekili Highway to Kamehameha Highway. (Completion by 6/8/02) WS 

Kapahulu: Reconstruction of Monsarrat and Mooheau avenues and Diamond Head Road. DC 

Makiki: Mott Smith Drive and Punahou Street will be repaved. (Completion by 8/02) DC 

Manoa-McCully: Reconstruct Manoa Road, Oahu Avenue, Dole and McCully streets.

Plant trees and install barriers on Kapiolani Boulevard between McCully Street and Kalakaua Avenue (Completion by 2/02) DC 

Moiliili: Install 8-inch water mains on (Completion by 7/02) WS

      Kaaha Street from Kapiolani Boulevard to Kaaloa Street;

      Kaaloa Street from Kaaha Street to Nakookoo Street;

      Nakookoo Street from Kahuna Lane to the end;

      Kahoaloha from Nakookoo Street to Kuulei Lane and Kahuna Lane. 

Pearl City: Rehabilitation of Waimano Home Road from Komo Mai Drive to end. (Completion by 8/02) DC

        Curb ramps at various locations. (Completion by 5/02) DC 

Sunset Beach: Install 12-inch to 16-inch water main along Kamehameha Highway from Paumalu Place to Kahae Road. (Completion by 12/02) WS 

Wahiawa: Rehabilitation of Nohoe Street between California Avenue and Puninoni Street, Puninoni Street and Royal Palm Drive. (Completion by 8/02) DC 

Waialua: Install water lines and related equipment along Aikaula, Haona, Kanalu, Kuoha, Naluahi and Nauahi streets and Goodale Avenue. (Completion by 6/02) WS

                 Rehabilitate Kaukonahua Road and Waialua Beach Road. DC 

Waianae:  Reconstruction and resurfacing of Lualualei Homestead Road between Pokai Bay Street and Hale Ekahi Drive, Paakea Road, between Hakimo Road and Mailiili Road, and Makaha Valley Road. (Completion by 8/10/02) DC 

Waikiki: New sidewalk, curb ramps, streetlights and traffic signals along Ala Moana between Kalia Road and Kalakaua Avenue (Completion by 2/25/02) DC 

Waipahu: Rehabilitate Waipahu Street between Kunia Road and Mahoe Street. (Completion by 8/02) DC

Curb ramp construction at various intersections. (Completion by 5/02) DC

      Reconstruction of Managers Drive to include irrigation and landscaping improvements. (Completion by 2/16/02) DC

DR. MARTIN L. KING JR. DAY PARADE sponsored by Martin Luther King Coalition. The event is expected to have 2,000 marchers, 16 vehicles, 4 bands. It will start at Ala Moana Park to Ala Moana Blvd., to Kalakaua Ave., to Monsarrat Ave., end at Waikiki Shell Parking Lot in Queen Kapiolani Park. Contact: Marsha Joyner 395-4612 Fax: 396-3595

NEWMAN CENTER FUN RUN/WALK sponsored by the Newman Center. The event is expected to have 200 runners. The event will start at St. Francis School grounds, to Ahaula Way, to Woodlawn Dr., to Kahaloa Dr., to U turn inside Manoa Elderly Housing, to Kahaloa Dr., to Woodlawn Dr., to Pamoa Rd., to finish at Newman Center on UH campus.
