The departments of Facility Maintenance (FM) and Design & Construction (DC), and the Board of Water Supply (WS) have scheduled the following roadwork for the week of February 3 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Estimated completion date is in parentheses.

New Projects:

Honolulu: Reconstruct curb and gutter at Ward Avenue and Kinau Street. (Completion by 7/26/02) DC 

Continuing Projects:

Aiea: Curb ramps at Laumima Street (Completion by 5/02) DC

            Rehabilitation of Aiea Heights Road (Completion by 8/02) DC

Haleiwa: Install water lines and equipment along Haleiwa Road, Kaika Place, Nalimu Road, Naoiwi Lane, Niuula Road and Walikanahele Road. (Completion by 6/02) WS

Honolulu: Reconstruct King Street from Liliha Street to River Street and Bethel Street to South Street. The North King Street section includes the replacement of a 24-inch water main. (Completion by 7/02) DC

            Reconstruct Nuuanu Avenue, Judd Street, Booth Road and Nuuanu Pali Drive. (Completion by 6/02) DC

            Curb ramps at various locations downtown (Completion by 5/02). DC

                        Sewer line construction on Lusitania Street from Pauoa Road to Auwaiolimu Street. The street will be closed 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday Friday. (Completion by 5/15/02) DC

            Reconstruct gutters, curbs and sidewalks on Kalanipuu Street and King Street between Alapai Street and University Avenue. (Completion by 2/02) DC

Kahala: Renovation of Kealahou Street. (Completion by 8/02) DC

Kaimuki: Curb ramps and widened sidewalks along Waialae Avenue (Completion by 4/2/02) DC

Kaneohe: A 42-inch water main with fire hydrants is being placed along Kahekili Highway from Ahuimanu Road to Haiku Road and from Kulukeoe Street to Likelike Highway, Likelike Highway from Kahekili Highway to Kamehameha Highway. (Completion by 6/8/02) WS 

Reconstruction of Kaneohe Bay Drive from Kaimalu Place to Mokapu Road. (Completion by 3/02) DC 

Kapahulu: Reconstruction of Monsarrat and Mooheau avenues. DC 

Makiki: Mott Smith Drive and Punahou Street will be repaved. (Completion by 8/02) DC 

Manoa-McCully: Reconstruct Manoa Road, Oahu Avenue, Dole and McCully streets. DC 

Moiliili: Install 8-inch water mains on (Completion by 7/02) WS

      Kaaha Street from Kapiolani Boulevard to Kaaloa Street;

      Kaaloa Street from Kaaha Street to Nakookoo Street;

      Nakookoo Street from Kahuna Lane to the end;

      Kahoaloha from Nakookoo Street to Kuulei Lane and Kahuna Lane. 

Pearl City: Rehabilitation of Waimano Home Road from Komo Mai Drive to end. (Completion by 8/02) DC

        Curb ramps at various locations. (Completion by 5/02) DC 

Sunset Beach: Install 12-inch to 16-inch water main along Kamehameha Highway from Paumalu Place to Kahae Road. (Completion by 12/02) WS 

Wahiawa: Rehabilitation of Nonohe Street between California Avenue and Puninoni Street, Puninoni Street and Royal Palm Drive. (Completion by 8/02) DC 

Waialua:  Install water lines and related equipment along Aikaula, Haona, Kanalu, Kuoha, Naluahi and Nauahi streets and Goodale Avenue. (Completion by 6/02) WS

                 Rehabilitate Kaukonahua Road and Waialua Beach Road. DC 

Waianae:  Reconstruction and resurfacing of Lualualei Homestead Road between Pokai Bay Street and Hale Ekahi Drive, Paakea Road, between Hakimo Road and Mailiili Road, and Makaha Valley Road. (Completion by 8/10/02) DC 

Waikiki: New sidewalk, curb ramps, streetlights and traffic signals along Ala Moana between Kalia Road and Kalakaua Avenue (Completion by 2/25/02) DC 

Waipahu: Rehabilitate Waipahu Street between Kunia Road and Mahoe Street. (Completion by 8/02) DC

Curb ramp construction at various intersections. (Completion by 5/02) DC

      Reconstruction of Managers Drive to include irrigation and landscaping improvements. (Completion by 2/16/02) DC

NIGHT IN CHINATOWN, Chinese New Years STREET FESTIVAL sponsored by the Chinatown Merchants Association. The event is expected to have 10,000 + participants.  Traffic will be diverted starting 2:30 am for setup. The event will close all traffic lanes/sidewalk areas:   1) MAUNAKEA ST., Beretania St to Nimitz Hwy, 2) PAUAHI ST., River St to Smith St., 3) HOTEL ST, Richards St. to River St., 4) RICHARDS ST., Beretania St. to King St. Contact Sun Hung Wong 595-6417.  For more info on Chinatown events, visit their website:

HAROLD CHAPSON MEMORIAL 8K RUN sponsored by RRCA/Mid-Pacific Roadrunners Club. The event is expected to have 100 runners. CHINATOWN OPEN HOUSE NIGHT, Chinese New Years LION DANCES sponsored by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii. The event is expected to have 5,000 + participants.  Traffic will be diverted starting 5:30 pm. There will be 5 lion dance groups visiting various businesses in area bounded by River St., on west side, Beretania St., on north side, Nuuanu Ave., on east side, & Nimitz Hwy. on south side.
