The departments of Facility Maintenance (FM) and Design & Construction (DC), and the Board of Water Supply (WS) have scheduled the following roadwork for the week of August 7 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Estimated completion date is in parentheses.

New Projects:

Moanalua: Install curb ramps, sidewalks, driveways, streetlights and traffic signal on Mahiole Street, Pineapple Place and Maalahi Street. (Completion by 11/02) DC

Continuing Projects:

Hawaii Kai: Construct an eight-inch main along Hawaii Kai Drive, from Pohoiki Place to Pepeekeo Street, and four-inch mains along various side streets in between. In addition, construct a 12-inch main along Kawaihae Street from Kalanianaole Highway to May Way, and eight-inch mains along May Way from Maunalua Avenue to Makaniolu Place, and along the entire length of Makaniolu Place. (Completion by 12/02) WS

Honolulu: Install new water main on Dillingham Boulevard between Waiakamilo Road and Liliha Street. (Completion by 9/02) WS

            Reconstruct Alewa Drive and Alencastre Street. (Completion by 9/02) DC

            Construct curb ramps at various locations.

            Dole Street, McCully Street, University Avenue and Nuuanu Avenue are next on the schedule for reconstruction. Mooheau Avenue is being completed. (Completion by 10/02) DC

Kaneohe: Rehabilitation of Kamehameha Highway from Heeia Street to Long Bridge. (Completion by 8/02) DC

Maili: Rehabilitate Ehu and Meaulu roads and Alapaki, Kakalena and Milikami streets. (Completion by 8/02) DC

Mililani: Rehabilitate Kuahelani and Meheula avenues. (Completion by 1/03) DC

Nanakuli: Rehabilitate Hakimo Road, Laumania Avenue, Keaulana Avenue and Pohakunui Street. (Completion by 8/02) DC

Salt Lake: Curb ramps at various locations. (Completion 11/02) DC

            Salt Lake Boulevard Widening from Bougainville Drive to Maluna Street: Upgrade roadway to include 2 additional lanes in each direction and designated left and right turning lanes. Provide traffic controls, mass grading, temporary security fencing, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, curb ramps and property adjustments, including demolishing and reconstructing new structures and constructing new walls. Install drainage, water, sewer, traffic signal, streetlights, underground electrical system, oil lines, gas lines, pavement striping, markings and markers and traffic signs. (Completion by 6/04) DC

Sunset Beach: Install 12-inch to 16-inch water main along Kamehameha Highway from Paumalu Place to Kahae Road. (Completion by 12/02) WS

Wahiawa: Rehabilitation of Dole Road, Ilima Street, Kaliko Drive, Kilau Place, Lemi Street, Loko Drive, Loki Place, Mala Street, Neal Avenue, Olive Avenue, Plum Street, Puninoni Place, Rose Street

Waipahu: Construct improvements for Mokuola Street between Kahuailani Street and Nali Street, Hikimoe Street and Mokuola Street. (Completion by 10/02) DC


Parades, Walks, Races & Other Street Closures

HAWAII HEART WALK sponsored by the American Heart Association. It is expected to have 2,500 walkers. The event will start at Queen Kapiolani Park Bandstand to Monsarrat Ave. to Diamond Head Rd. to Kahala Ave. to Diamond Head Rd. then left onto Kalakaua Ave. to finish at Bandstand. KAIMUKI KANIKAPILA STREET FAIR sponsored by the Greater East Honolulu Community Alliance. The event is expected to have 3,000 participants. The event will close: 1) Waialae Avenue, all lanes, from 11th to Kokohead Ave. & 2) 12th Avenue, all lanes,  from Waialae Ave. to Driveway of Kaimuki Municipal Parking Lot.  Contact: Ginny Meade 737-4125  Email:
