SALT LAKE WELCOMES MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR POOL

AND RECREATION CENTER

 On Friday, November 1, the 30,000 residents of Moanalua-Salt Lake community will take possession of a new $4.8 million recreation facility and Olympic-size pool.  The Grand Opening and Dedication of the pool and recreation center will take place at 9:45 a.m. at the Salt Lake District Park, 1159 Ala Lilikoi Place.

The impressive swimming complex  includes men’s and women’s shower/dressing/restrooms, office space, equipment room, heating system, concrete bleachers and a 50-meter swimming pool and training pool, complete with ADA accessories.

In attendance will be students from neighboring Salt Lake Elementary School and two well-known former Olympians, Sonny Tanabe and Evelyn Kawamoto Kono.

 The program consists of an official blessing and dedication, some speeches and a water exercise finale performed by an Aiea and Salt Lake senior citizens group.   Officials expected to attend include State Senator Donna Kim, State Representative Nathan Suzuki, Councilmember Romy Cachola, Mayor Jeremy Harris, Managing Director Ben Lee, Department of Design and Construction Director Rae Loui and Department of Parks and Recreation Deputy Director “Skippa” Diaz.
