FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAYOR’S SENIOR RECOGNITION PROGRAM SET FOR APRIL 22 The Outstanding Senior Volunteer Man and Woman for 2001 will be announced at the 36th Mayor’s Senior Recognition Program on April 22, 2002. “I am pleased to honor these volunteers and acknowledge the many senior citizens who donate their time to our City,” said Mayor Jeremy Harris. “Our seniors are truly a treasured resource in our community.” The Senior Recognition Program is produced by the Honolulu Committee on Aging and the Elderly Affairs Division of the City and County of Honolulu. The Hawaii Medical Service Association and Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel are principal sponsors of this program. The program’s theme, “America: A Community for All Ages,” emphasizes that everyone in our country needs to be involved to ensure that all may live safely, securely and in good health.. The young must help their elders, and elders must give their wisdom and experience to youth. Polynesian Cultural Center entertainers are featured. The Steptaculars Dancers, Royal Hawaiian Band and Makua Alii Singers are also on the program. The public is invited to this admission-free event, which begins at 9:00 a.m. Door prizes will be awarded. For more information, call 523-4361. -30- |
