Public Information Division FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-February 26, 2002 Mayor Jeremy Harris today named Barbara Kim Stanton as the City’s Director of Waikiki Development. “I am very pleased and fortunate to have Barbara on my team,” the Mayor said. “She brings a wealth of experience in management and marketing which will be invaluable as we continue to improve and upgrade Waikiki, our prime visitor destination area.” Ms. Stanton has 18 years’ experience in executive management, business development and marketing. She served as Deputy Director of the State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism from 1987-93, during which time she was Acting Director from 1991-92; Deputy Director of the State Department of Budget and Finance from 1993-94; Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the State’s High Technology Development Corporation; and the Chief Clerk of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, Hawaii State Legislature, from 1998-99. She has been a business development and technology consultant since 1999 and last year was named Project Manager for the City’s Waikiki Livable Community Project. -30- |
