FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

City Crews Available to Pick Up Storm-Damaged Items

Crews and equipment from the City’s Bulky Item Pickup Program are available to remove large items that have been damaged by the recent storm, the City has announced.

“Damaged personal property caused by the heavy rains, or items such as tires, abandoned water heaters and miscellaneous appliances that may have floated onto properties during the storm should be removed,” explained City Managing Director Benjamin B. Lee. “City crews are available to pick up these items, provided that they are placed at curbside.”

City crews cannot enter private property to remove items.  The items must be placed along the curb edge for pickup.  Persons interested in requesting these pickups (which do not apply to damaged, abandoned or derelict vehicles) may call the following City baseyards:

Waialua: 637-4759

          Laie: 293-5657

          Kaneohe:  247-3553

          Kailua:  262-4346

          Baseyards are open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
