FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 19, 2002

Sunset on the Beach is the place to be again this weekend.  One of the most innovative programs in Hawaii, Sunset gives local residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian sunset from Queen’s Surf Beach, at the end of world-famous Waikiki beach.

It’s a great way to relax with a cool beverage, pupus, and live entertainment from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  This weekend, radio station KCCN FM100 will feature popular groups such as Pipeline, Keahiwai, O-shen,  Mana`o Company, and Fiji.  Radio station deejays will also engage the audience in interesting contests with fun prizes.

Films this weekend are “Cool Running” on Saturday, February 23 and “The Bodyguard” on Sunday, February 24.

Whether you choose to picnic on the beach or dine on tables set up on the Kapahulu pier, choose from a wide menu selection – from pizzas and hot dogs to chefs’ signature plates at very special prices.   Restaurants Scotty’s BBQ, Antonio’s Seafood Steak & Pasta, Auntie Pasto’s, Ocean Steak House, Mr. Pizza, Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shops, Simply Ono Food and Popcorn, and Beach House Beverage Cart will feature their finest.

This week, Sunset on the Beach is sponsored by the City & County of Honolulu, Hawaii Restaurant Association, Waikiki Improvement Association, News 8, K5 The Home Team, and KCCN FM100.

For more information, contact 523-CITY or the Waikiki Improvement Association at 923-1094.
