SUNSET ON THE BEACH
Queens Surf Beach is the place to be this weekend as the City kicks off Valentine’s Week and Chinese New Years at Sunset on the Beach, Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10, from 4 to 9 p.m.
Enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian sunset from world-famous Waikiki beach. Relax with a cool beverage, pupus and live entertainment on the Extreme FM 100 stage from 4 to 6 p.m., with deejays hosting a variety of entertainment, fun and prizes.
To celebrate Pro Bowl, on Saturday, February 9, “Remember the Titans,” with Denzel Washington, will be shown on the gigantic 30-foot screen. On Sunday, February 10, enjoy “Sleepless in Seattle,” a romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, which is sure to kick-start your Valentine Week. And as an added feature on Sunday, in celebration of Chinese New Years, watch for a colorful and playful serpent to mingle among the crowd as it performs the traditional Chinese Dragon Dance.
Whether you choose to picnic on the beach or dine on tables set up on the Kapahulu pier, choose from a wide menu selection – from hamburgers and hot dogs to signature plates at very special prices. Chefs from restaurants such as Davey Jones Ribs, Lobster and Crab House, All-Star Café, Mr. Pizza, Simply Ono Foods and Popcorn, Skyline Café, Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog, Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Beach House Beverage Cart will feature culinary delights.
