Sunset on the Beach returns to Waikiki after a successful run in Aiea which drew more than 60,000 people.  Enjoy the Hawaiian sand and sea this weekend, Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2, at beautiful Queen’s Surf Beach, on the corner of Kalakaua and Kapahulu Avenues.

The festivities begin at 4 p.m., with recorded Hawaiian music.  Then at 4:30 p.m., KRATER FM 100 ignites the crowd with live entertainment until 6:30 p.m., featuring popular groups and deejays engaging the audience in contests and fun.  Relax and sample a king’s ransom of gourmet treats, from exotic pupus to elegant entrees and tempting desserts.  Complete the perfect evening under a canopy of stars, watching your favorite movies on a giant 30-foot screen with Diamond Head in the background.

On Saturday, June 1, it’s the action adventure “Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves,” with Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman and Sean Connery.  The PG-13 movie has been edited for family viewing.  On Sunday, June 2, Sunset features the 1941 remake of Dashiell Hammett’s detective classic, “The Maltese Falcon,” starring Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor and Peter Lorre.

Whether you choose to picnic on the beach or dine on tables set up on the Kapahulu pier, choose from a wide selection at very affordable prices.  Restaurants participating this week include Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog, Seafood Village, Auntie Pasto’s, Oh!
