Sunset on the Beach returns to Queen’s Surf Beach this weekend after traveling to Wai`anae this past weekend. One of the most innovative programs in Hawaii, Sunset gives local residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian sunset, live entertainment and great movies at no charge. A wide selection of food and snacks is available at reasonable rates.
Restaurant booths open at 4:00 p.m., and radio station XTREME 104.3 hosts live entertainment and contests from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. This weekend, XTREME will feature groups like Pacific Blue.
Classic movies this weekend are the 1977 Steven Spielberg classic, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” on Saturday, March 23, 2002. Tom Cruise stars in 1996 release “Jerry Maguire” on Sunday, March 24, 2002. When the movie was first released, Neil Rosen, NY-1, said “Tom Cruise gives his best performance to date” as a sports agent who suddenly discovers his scruples – and promptly loses his job. Movies are shown at 7:00 p.m.
Whether you choose to picnic on the beach or dine at tables with bright blue umbrellas on the Kapahulu pier, choose from a wide menu selection – from chefs’ signature presentations to pizzas, hot dogs and snacks – at very special prices. Restaurants Ft. Ruger Market, Gordon Biersch Brewery and Restaurant, Suekko, Auntie Pasto’s, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, The Nutty Hawaiian, Popcorn Express, Davey Jones Ribs, Mr. Pizza and Beach House Beverage Cart area featured this weekend.
