NCAA VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS TO BE HONORED WITH MOTORCADE AND RALLY

The City will honor the University of Hawaii Men’s Volleyball team with a “Victory Motorcade” in Waikiki tomorrow (May 11), leading up to a “Victory Rally” at Saturday evening’s Sunset on the Beach.

The NCAA champs will board a trolley and begin a “Victory Motorcade” at 6:30 p.m. that will run from Fort DeRussy/Saratoga Road, along Kalakaua Avenue, ending at Queen’s Surf Beach, the site of Sunset on the Beach.  The team will be escorted by motorcycle police in wedge formation, a fire truck and Emergency Medical Services vehicles.

The motorcade will culminate with the “Victory Rally” at 7:00 p.m., when the team, Coach Mike Wilton and UH President Evan Dobelle make an appearance on the big stage at Sunset on the Beach.  Mayor Jeremy Harris will present each team member with a congratulatory proclamation and an Award of Excellence.

Following the rally, Saturday’s Sunset on the Beach movie “Phenomenon” will be shown.
