NEWS RELEASE Public Communications Division FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 1, 2002 Contact: Mark Au, Department of Community Services, 523-4959 Mayor Jeremy Harris will take part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the Waipahu Community Adult Day Health Care Center and Youth Day Care Center on Friday, March 8, 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Hikimoe and Mokuola Streets in Waipahu. When completed, the facility will offer a variety of community-based health, therapeutic, and social services program to the elderly and physically disabled adults who are at risk of placements in a nursing facility. Childcare for low to moderate-income families will also be provided at the Center. The project is the result of a partnership between city and state government and the community. The City & County of Honolulu provided $2.7 million in Community Development Block Grants to fund the project. Completion of the project is by the end of the year. Waipahu Community Adult Day Health Care Center and Youth Day Care Center, a non-profit organization is the recipient of the funds. ### |
