CITY OFFERS TO DELAY PLANNED BUS SERVICE CUTBACK The City Administration has offered to postpone tomorrow’s planned cutback in bus service for one month to give the City Council time to pass a fare package that will bring in the necessary $6.8 million in additional revenue so bus service cutbacks will be unnecessary. Mayor Harris has cautioned that if fares are not increased within that extended 30 day period, the cuts to bus service for the remainder of the fiscal year will have to be even deeper than previously planned due to the extension. Mayor Harris said, “We believe if everyone works together we can avoid disruption to our City bus service.” -30- |
