July 7, 2003

The City’s new Kapolei Transit Center opens for business at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, July 8), offering nine convenient bays for customers to board, depart and easily transfer between buses that service six routes.

The Center is at 900 Kamokila Boulevard in Kapolei.  It will provide easy-to-read information displays and restroom facilities.

More than 420,000 bus riders are expected to use the facility each year because riders who now transfer at other stops will use the Transit Center instead.  The Center will significantly shorten the distance customers walk to change buses.

The six routes serviced by the Center are:

  • Route C Country Express between Ala Moana Center and Makaha via Downtown, H-1 and Farrington Highway.
  • Route 40/40A between Ala Moana Center and Makaha via Downtown, Kamehameha Highway and Farrington Highway.
  • Route 41 to Ewa Beach.
  • Route 411 to Makakilo Heights.
  • Route 413 to Campbell Industrial Park (peak only).
  • Route 414 Community Access Service to Palahia Street.  (Community Access is a fixed-time, variable-route service often used to assist persons with disabilities.)

Information kiosks near appropriate bus shelters will provide route and bus system information.  The public can also call 848-5555 or go online to  for details regarding the operations of the new Kapolei Transit Center.
