MARKET CITY SHOPPING CENTER SPONSORS “SUNSET ON THE BEACH”
Sunset on the Beach continues at Queen’s Surf Beach this weekend, Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13, sponsored by Market City Shopping Center.
“Market City Shopping Center is pleased to support the City and County of Honolulu in sponsoring Sunset on the Beach,” said Sandra Au Fong, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Leasing for Market City Shopping Center. “It is a wonderful free activity for families, both visitors and residents alike. We welcome everyone to this event.”
The fun begins at 4 p.m., with food and island music, as Hawaiian 105 KINE deejays host live entertainment. At 7:30 p.m., Sunset on the Beach presents Disney’s “Tuck Everlasting,” starring Alexis Bledel, William Hurt, Sissy Spasek and Amy Irving. Adapted from the novel by Natalie Babbitt, “Tuck” is a heartwarming story of young love and a magical secret shared between the two.
The festivities continue on Sunday with KRATER 96 deejays engaging the audience from 4 p.m. in fun, contests and live entertainment. At 7:30 p.m., the 30-foot screen presents “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days,” starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. A pert magazine columnist wages a bet with her editor that she can lose a guy in record time. As she works on her unwitting “love interest,” she soon discovers that she has become the target of another bet -- one he makes with his friends -- that he can make any woman fall in love with him in record time.
Corporate sponsor, Market City Shopping Center, will be on hand on both days, to present prize giveaways, including Market City gift certificates, beach towels, chairs andbeach bags.
Restaurants participating this weekend include Gina’s Bar B Q, Raddison Prince Kuhio Hotel, Leo’s Taverna, Compadres Bar & Grill, Time 2 Grind, Bale French Sandwich & Restaurant, Mr. Pizza, Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog, Krunchies and Popcorn Express.
Thirty-two crafters offering Hawaiian-made products by the Hawaii Handcrafters and Artists Alliance, will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to closing on both days.
In addition to the Market City Shopping Center, Sunset on the Beach is sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu, Waikiki Improvement Association, Hawaii Tourism Authority, KHNL Hawaii News 8, KFVE, KRATER 96 and Hawaiian 105 KINE.
Market City Shopping Center, located at the junction of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kaimuki Avenue, has been serving the Kapahulu, Kaimuki and Moiliili communities since 1948. Anchor tenants include Ben Franklin Crafts, Blockbuster Video, Foodland Super Market and Fun Factory.
