            Mayor Jeremy Harris’ weekly “live” one-hour show on Olelo Channel 54 tomorrow (Thursday, June 26) will feature a discussion on crystal methamphetamine and how citizens can become educated about “ice” and its impacts on families and our quality of life.

            The Mayor’s Special Report will be cablecast from 7 to 8 p.m.

            Joining Mayor Harris in the discussion will be Capt. Kevin Lima of the Honolulu Police Department’s Narcotics/Vice Division; Briane Gray, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, DEA/ Hawaii; Chris Tolley, Demand Reduction Coordinator/Public Information Officer, also with the DEA/Hawaii.

            Also appearing on the show will be a representative of Hina Mauka, a substance abuse treatment center that provides recovery services to individuals, families, and communities touched by chemical dependency.

            Since the program is presented “live,” the public is encouraged to call in questions to 547-7840.

            Capt. Lima and his staff hold information meetings on crystal meth throughout Oahu. They explain what to look for if you suspect drug use and how to work with your patrol district’s Community Resource Officers and Neighborhood Security Watch Coordinator to weed out illegal activity.

            He will also discuss HPD response to clandestine labs and drug houses. HPD works closely with federal agencies like DEA and the Hawaii HIDTA program.
