FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAYOR TO DISCUSS BUS ISSUES ON CALL-IN SHOW Mayor Jeremy Harris will devote most of his regular Thursday evening “live” call-in cable show this week to a discussion of bus issues. The Mayor’s Report will air Thursday, Aug. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. on Olelo Channel 54. The show is produced by Honolulu Municipal TV. This week’s show will include discussions on bus fares, bus strike contingency plans and the initial segment of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) which will be under construction by the end of this year. Cheryl Soon, director, Department of Transportation Services, will be the special guest. A new half-hour video entitled “Cruising on the BRT” will air as part of the Mayor’s Report. The informational video provides an overview of the City’s BRT project and explains how it will mesh with the current CityExpress! service, new transit centers and hub-and-spoke implementation. “Cruising on the BRT” highlights major components of the BRT project, providing maps of the alignment, a look at destinations along the route from Iwilei to Waikiki, a cross-section of typical bus riders and information on the hybrid-electric vehicles that will be used for BRT. Viewers can pose questions during the show by calling 547-7840. -30- |
