ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

Scheduled roadwork for the week beginning May 4, 2003, for the Department of Design & Construction. Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

HONOLULU

Rehabilitation of Streets - Dillingham Boulevard from King Street to Waiakamilo Street: Pavement Markings.

            (Estimated completion date, April 2003)

Reconstruction of Sidewalks, Ala Moana Area – Alohi Way, Elm Street, Pensacola Street, Piikoi Street, Hoolai Street, Kamaile Street, Alder Street, Birch Street, Cedar Street, Liona Street, Sheridan Street, Keeaumoku Street, Rycroft Street, Lauula Way, Makaloa Street: Demolish and reconstruct existing concrete sidewalks.

            (Estimated completion date, August 2003)

Rehabilitation of streets - Nuuanu Avenue and McCully Street: reconstruct road pavement, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveways.  Construct curb ramps, bus pads and drainage system.  Relocate and/or adjust existing electrical facilities for HECO, Verizon, traffic signal, street light and appurtenances.  Resurface, adjust manhole frame and cover to new grade and restripe.  Install traffic signs.

KAILUA

Kainehe, Hamakua, & Keolu Reconstructed Sewer: CIP work on Kainehe Street and Keolu Drive; Shaft Construction and Microtunneling on Hamakua Drive.

Kalaheo Avenue Reconstructed Sewer, from Kainalu Drive to Dune Circle: Road Closure for work on sewerline will be Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.  During non-work hours, one lane for northbound traffic along Kalaheo Avenue will be re-opened with the other lane closed as an on-site staging are for equipment.

KAIMUKI

Curb ramps – 13^th Avenue and Mahina Avenue, 21^st Avenue and Pahoa Avenue, Olokele Avenue and Winam Avenue:  install striping, markings and markers.

Emergency Sewer Repair: Amelia Street/Kalihi Stream

(March 17, 2003 to May 2, 2003)

Curb Ramps - Bernice Street and Kapalama Avenue, Kapalama Place and Palapala Place, Kapalama Avenue and North School Street, Houghtailing Street and North School Street:

Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, and driveways.  Replace traffic signal and streetlight system, traffic signs, striping, markings and markers.    (Estimated completion date, April 2003)

LAIE

Kahawainui Stream Flood Control Project - Poohaili Street Improvements: Construction of roadway, including grading, installation of guardrails and steel posts, and asphaltic concrete paving.

MAKIKI

Curb Ramps at Various Locations - Piikoi Street and Wilder Avenue, Liholiho Street and Wilder Avenue: Construct new curb ramps and sidewalks.  Replace traffic signal system, traffic signs, striping, marking and markers.

MILILANI

Rehabilitation of Streets - Kuahelani Avenue and Meheula Avenue:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks, driveways.  Install traffic signal system, streetlight system, traffic signs, striping, markings and markers.

MOANALUA

Curb Ramps - Maalahi Street and Mahiole Street: Remedial A.C. pavement patch work.

SALT LAKE

Rehabilitation of Streets - Hoolaulea Street from Waimano Home Road to Hookahi Street:

Asphalt pavement markings.

Curb ramps - Ala Ilima Street and Ala Nioi Place, Ala Napunani Street and Likini Street: install striping, markings and markers.

Salt Lake Boulevard Widening Phase 2A, Bougainville Drive to Maluna Street:

Upgrade roadway to include 2 additional lanes in each direction, with designated left and right turning lanes. Provide traffic controls, mass grading, temporary security fencing and electrical overhead lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, curb ramps and property adjustments, including demolishing and reconstructing new structures and constructing new walls. Install detention basins, drainage, water, sewer, traffic signal, streetlights, underground electrical system, oil lines, gas lines, pavement striping, markings and markers, and traffic signs, irrigation and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2004)

WAIALUA

Waialua Beach Road Sidewalk Improvements, Phase I – Install new sidewalks, curb ramps, walls, drain system, curbs, gutters, pavement restoration, irrigation system, landscaping and traffic signs.
