ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

Scheduled roadwork for the week beginning May 18, 2003, for the Department of Design & Construction. Roadwork is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

HONOLULU

Rehabilitation of Streets - Dillingham Boulevard from King Street to Waiakamilo Street: Pavement Markings.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2003)

 

Reconstruction of Sidewalks, Ala Moana Area Alohi Way, Elm Street, Pensacola Street, Piikoi Street, Hoolai Street, Kamaile Street, Alder Street, Birch Street, Cedar Street, Liona Street, Sheridan Street, Keeaumoku Street, Rycroft Street, Lauula Way, Makaloa Street: Demolish and reconstruct existing concrete sidewalks.

            (Estimated completion date, August 2003)

 

Rehabilitation of streets - Nuuanu Avenue and McCully Street: reconstruct road pavement, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveways.  Construct curb ramps, bus pads and drainage system.  Relocate and/or adjust existing electrical facilities for HECO, Verizon, traffic signal, street light and appurtenances.  Resurface, adjust manhole frame and cover to new grade and restripe.  Install traffic signs.

(Estimated completion date, June 2003)

 

KAILUA

Kainehe, Hamakua, & Keolu Reconstructed Sewer: CIP work on Kainehe Street and Keolu Drive; Shaft Construction and Microtunneling on Hamakua Drive.

(Estimated completion date, December 2003)

 

Kalaheo Avenue Reconstructed Sewer, from Kainalu Drive to Dune Circle: Road Closure for work on sewerline will be Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.  During non-work hours, one lane for northbound traffic along Kalaheo Avenue will be re-opened with the other lane closed as an on-site staging are for equipment.

                                    (Estimated completion date, March 2004)

 

KAIMUKI

Curb ramps 13th Avenue and Mahina Avenue, 21st Avenue and Pahoa Avenue, Olokele Avenue and Winam Avenue:  install striping, markings and markers.

LAIE

Kahawainui Stream Flood Control Project - Poohaili Street Improvements: Construction of roadway, including grading, installation of guardrails and steel posts, and asphaltic concrete paving.

            (Estimated completion date, August 2003)

 

MOANALUA

Curb Ramps - Maalahi Street and Mahiole Street: Remedial A.C. pavement patch work.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2003)

 

SALT LAKE

Curb ramps - Ala Ilima Street and Ala Nioi Place, Ala Napunani Street and Likini Street: install striping, markings and markers.

Salt Lake Boulevard Widening Phase 2A, Bougainville Drive to Maluna Street:

Upgrade roadway to include 2 additional lanes in each direction, with designated left and right turning lanes. Provide traffic controls, mass grading, temporary security fencing and electrical overhead lines, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, curb ramps and property adjustments, including demolishing and reconstructing new structures and constructing new walls. Install detention basins, drainage, water, sewer, traffic signal, streetlights, underground electrical system, oil lines, gas lines, pavement striping, markings and markers, and traffic signs, irrigation and landscaping.

            (Estimated completion date, June 2004)

 

WAIALUA

Waialua Beach Road Sidewalk Improvements, Phase I Install new sidewalks, curb ramps, walls, drain system, curbs, gutters, pavement restoration, irrigation system, landscaping and traffic signs.

PARADES, WALKS, RACES & OTHER STREET CLOSURES

WINDWARD HALF MARATHON RACE SERIES Run sponsored by Windward Marathon Association. The event is expected to have 800 runners/walkers. KEIKI FUN RUN Start: Enchanted Lake Elementary, to Keolu Dr., to turnaround point, to Keolu Dr., to Enchanted Lake Elementary School finish. 5K Start: Enchanted Lake Elementary, to Keolu Dr., to Akamai St., to Akumu St., to Keolu Dr., to Enchanted Lake Elementary School finish. HALF MARATHON Start: Enchanted Lake Elementary, to Keolu Dr., to Keolu Dr., to Wanaao Rd., to Kakahiaka St., to Mahealani St., to Aumoe St., to Kailua Rd., to Kainalu Dr., to Kainui Dr., to Oneawa St., to Mokapu Blvd., to Old Mokapu Rd., to Kaimalino St., to Old Makapu Rd., to Mokapu Blvd., to Oneawa St., to Kainui St., to Kainalu Dr., to Kailua Rd., to Aumoe St., to Mahealani St., to Kakahiaka St., to Wanaao Rd., to Keolu Dr., to end at Enchanted Lake Elementary School.  Contact: Donna Fouts 532-6744, Fax: 532-6747

The event is expected to have 100 runners/walkers.  It will start at Maemae Elementary School, to Wyllie St., to Nuuanu Ave., to Judd St., to Liliha St., to Wyllie St. to end at Maemae Elementary School. BRUNCH ON THE BEACH STREET FESTIVAL sponsored by the Waikiki Improvement Assn./C&C Honolulu.  The event is expected to have 5,000+ participants. Traffic will be diverted starting 3:30 am for setup. The event will close Kalakaua Avenue, all traffic lanes/sidewalk areas, from Kaiulani Avenue to Liliuokalani Avenue. Contact: DTS-TST Div. 527-6009
