CITY CONTINUES FREE SATURDAY BUS SERVICE

       Mayor Jeremy Harris announced today that the City will continue its popular Saturday bus shuttle service to assist people who need to get into town for work or shopping or to get around within their community.

        Chinatown Gateway Plaza, at the intersection of Hotel and Bethel streets, will continue as “grand central” for most of the 16 school buses that will be providing service.

        The free shuttles will begin at 7 a.m. Riders are asked to be flexible as the school buses will not run on an exact schedule. Signs will be posted at the shuttle stops to aid riders.

        All routes will run on a circular route. Six of the routes will circle through Chinatown Gateway Plaza while the North Shore-Sunset-Kaaawa-Windward route will circle within that community.

        The Saturday schedule includes the following routes:

 1.   Chinatown Gateway – Kalihi: Departs every 20 minutes

First bus departs Chinatown at 7:00 a.m.
Last bus departs Chinatown at 5:20 p.m.

2 buses running to 8 stops:

§        Honolulu Community College

§        Dillingham/Kohou Street

§        Dillingham/McNeil Street

§        Kalihi Shopping Center

§        School Street near Kam IV Road

§        Kapalama Elementary School

§        Lanakila/School Street

§        Chinatown

 2.        Waianae – Kapolei – Waikele – Waipahu – Chinatown Gateway: Departs             every             hour and a half
            First bus departs Waianae Mall at 7:00 a.m.

            Second bus departs Waianae Mall at 8:30 a.m.

            Last bus departs Chinatown to Waianae at 4:00 p.m.

2 buses running to 6 stops: 

§        Waianae Mall

§        Kapolei Transit Center

§        Waipahu Daiei

§        Waipahu Civic Center

§        Waipahu Daiei

§        Chinatown

 3.   Chinatown Gateway – Ala Moana Center – Waikiki – UH: Departs every hour

First bus from Chinatown to UH departs at 7:00 a.m.

Last bus from Chinatown to UH leaves at 5:00 p.m.

First bus from UH to Chinatown departs at 7:00 p.m.

Last bus from UH to Chinatown leaves at 5:00 p.m.

 4 buses running to 9 stops:

 §         Chinatown

§         Straub/Neal Blaisdell Center

§         Kaiser Clinic

§         Ala Moana Center

§         Hale Koa Hotel

§         Waikiki Police Station

§         Waikiki Food Pantry

§         Honolulu Zoo (Kapahulu Ave. across Queen Kapiolani Hotel)

§         UH Sinclair Circle

During the Aloha Festivals Parade, the following stops will be moved:

§         Hale Koa relocated to Kalakaua/Ena Raod

§         Waikiki Police Station relocated to Kuhio/Kaiulani Triangle Park

§         Honolulu Zoo, Kapahulu Ave. near entrance to Zoo parking lot   

4.   Chinatown - Ewa Beach – Pearlridge: Departs every hour and fifteen             minutes
            First bus departs Ewa Beach Shopping Center at 7:00 a.m.

            Second bus departs Ewa Beach Shopping Center at 8:05 a.m.

            Last bus back to Ewa Beach Shopping Center from Chinatown departs at 4:45 p.m.

            2 buses running to 7 stops:

§         Chinatown

§         Pearlridge Shopping Center

§         Sam’s Club

§         Royal Kunia Park and Ride

§         St. Francis West

§         Ewa Beach Town Center

§         Ewa Beach Shopping Center

 5.    Wahiawa – Mililani – Salt Lake – Chinatown: Departs about every hour

            First bus departs Wahiawa at 7:00 a.m.

            Second bus departs Wahiawa at 8:20 a.m.

            Last bus back to Wahiawa from Chinatown leaves at 5:40 p.m.

            2 buses running to 5 stops:

§         Kamehameha Highway/California Avenue

§         Mililani Town Center

§         Pearlridge Shopping Center

§         Salt Lake Shopping Center

§         Chinatown

Departs about every hour

6.   Waimanalo – Kailua – Kaneohe – Chinatown: Departs about every hour and  20 minutes

            First bus departs Kailua at 7:00 a.m.

            Second departs Kailua at 8:20 a.m.

            Last bus back from Chinatown leaves at 5:10 p.m.

            2 buses running this route:

§            Enchanted Lake Shopping Cntr.

§            Shima’s Market

§            Waimanalo Post Office

§            Shima’s Market

§         Enchanted Lake Shopping Cntr.

§         Kailua Longs

§         Windward Mall

 7.         North Shore – Winward Mall – Haleiwa: Departs about every hour

            First bus to Haleiwa departs Windward mall at 7:00 a.m.

            First bus to Windward Mall departs North Shore Marketplace at 7:00 a.m.

            Last bus to Windward Mall leaves North Shore Marketplace at 2:30 p.m.

            Last bus to Haleiwa leaves Windward Mall at 4:00 p.m. 

 Note:  Buses on this route do not go to Chinatown; but passengers may     transfer to the Waimanalo-Kailua-Kaneohe bus at Windward Mall to get Downtown.
