MAYOR HARRIS EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO PEOPLE OF
AMERICAN SAMOA

Mayor Jeremy Harris issued the following statement after learning of the death today of the Governor of American Samoa, the Honorable Tauese T. P. Sunia.

"The citizens of the City and County of Honolulu extend their condolences to the people of American Samoa.  We mourn the loss of their Governor, Tauese Sunia, and we grieve with them.  The governor was a man of principle who placed his people first.  He understood their needs and worked hard to improve their lives.  I know that he will be missed.  The Samoan people have always been sustained by their remarkable faith, and I know that it will help them now.  Ramona and I will remember Governor Sunia in our prayers."
